The Situation in Haiti
It is nearly impossible for a Haitian child to attend school, let alone finish to obtain an education. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with nearly two-thirds of the entire population as illiterate. Less than 30% of students who are able to go to school make it to sixth grade, only 20% make it to secondary school. There are very few public schools for students to attend, and with the high costs of private institutions, it is nearly impossible for students to go to school.

The Backbone of our Program:Our Mentors
Our Community Agents are critical to our success in accompanying our young people. The agents are often youth who have graduated from high school and live in close proximity to the sponsored children. These agents visit the students’ homes on a monthly basis and ensure that they are progressing well in school and health. In addition, they meet with small groups of students on a monthly basis for a formation gathering, similar to various scouts groups, where students learn valuable life skills and receive character formation.

While financial support enables us to maximize our ability to give what is most needed to our students, we do accept donations of clothes and other items. However, we are unable to bear the cost of shipping these items, so in order to offset the cost of shipping, we request you also include a monetary donation of $3 per lb.
